79. Manipulation

The glare of your hypocrisy,
Shows right through your smile.
You never had the best intentions in mind,
Not even for a moment, or the while,

That it took for you take advantage,
Of those that played your games.
Those that you don't even give the decency,
Of remembering their faces, much less their names.

78. Open Doors

It's lingering sadness, that lurks at your every move.
When you watch for his next mistake through the doorway,
That leaves you wide open in an empty room.

Raindrops fall on your head, through the roof of the shelter,
That in a moment of strength you carefully pieced back together
That which he had single-handedly shattered.

Each drop mixes the memories so thoroughly, so deep,
That it's hard to remember that you left the pain in the past,
And you're reliving a lifetime of memories that refuse to sleep.

But he doesn't know how the past won't stay where it belongs,
Casting doubt in your otherwise happy eyes,
That once condemned him for his every single wrong.

And when he looks at you with the love in his eyes
That you wanted for so long it almost killed you,
You can't even begin to tell him how hard you tried.

77. Untitled

Torn to pieces and I can't breathe,
Choking on the hope there was for you and me,
It's never clear even when the haze finally dies,
I can't make you feel what you never felt inside...

76. Love Like the Ocean

The water chilled your skin the first time,
You felt the waves play on your feet.
When you walked alongside a black ocean,
On sand so different than your gravel streets.

As you stared at the moon's reflection,
Like glances of silver turning gold,
For a moment you didn't even miss,
The sunrise over the fields back home.

It wasn't hard to fall in love with,
Rolling waves the sun kissed,
That swept you up,
Far too fast for you to notice.

But when the storm hit hard,
You couldn't keep your balance,
Between the wind and waves,
And the thunder's deafening silence.

It was electricity in the air that thrilled you,
And shook you to the core.
But you were far too reckless,
This world was never yours.

Your body thrown against the rocks,
That shattered your control,
As amazing as it is,
You know you've got to let it go.
