I'm Back!!
Isn't that just cause for excitement?! Not really... lol. So isn't it pathetic that my first post for 2009 is at the end of June. Talk about late. In my defense I did not have free internet at tech school so when I did get it I took full advantage of it. Sadly that did not include updating.
Speaking of tech school, I suppose I should fill you all in on what I was doing for the last 6 months. Well in January I left for basic training for the air force. That was an... interesting experience. I can honestly say that I'm glad I did and hope to hell I never have to go through it again. The physical aspect of it wasn't bad, it was the breaking of all my habits and being reduced to nothing, along with the stress that was tough. In all reality though, I adapted fairly quickly and it really wasn't as hard as people try to make it out to be.
Now tech school... I had the time of my life! The classes, being in student status and all the military stuff in general weren't the greatest, but the people I met and the times I had out of uniform (and sometimes in uniform of course) made the entire experience worthwhile. I made some of my best friends there, people that I wish I didn't have to leave. And of course I'll always miss the beach and sitting out there until morning just because we could, and renting cars on the weekends when we could afford it. That was the best. Oh and in case anyone was wondering, I was down in Biloxi, Mississippi... a long ways from South Dakota. But I'm back now, and I really am happy to be back. Seth is here, and all my friends. I just wish I could have brought a couple of friends back with me, lol.
Oh and I just got back from storm chasing... it was so much fun. We were dodging tornados! I got some cool pictures of lightning, maybe I'll post them somewhere when I get internet. Which reminds, lol, no one's even going to see this post until I get internet!
So Busy
Wow, I've been so busy these past few months it's been unreal. School started in September and so did the end of all my free time. It was hard enough getting to school this year, and so adding financial troubles on top off all that and you have the reason why I haven't gotten anything else accomplished. Not to mention that I went and joined the air guard. It had been something that I had though about doing in high school but was afraid to commit to. But now I'm seeing it as a way to help me solve my financial troubles. In addition to the money that I'll get from them, I'll also get enough training to help me find a better job, and that's just what I need right now. Anyway, I leave for basic in January.
I have three paintings sitting in my room unfinished, along with one blank canvas. My goal is to get those done before I leave. I haven't really gotten any artwork done since school started with the exception of the stuff for my drawing class. They aren't my usual kind of work and a lot of what we've been doing is new to me, but I may post them on DA just so people can see what I've been doing.
You can check my fiction pages for progress on my stories, but I haven't done a whole lot of writing the past couple months. I did manage to write a few new poems though, and they might be worth checking out.
As for NaNoWriMo, which is going on this month, unless I manange to find a whole lot of free time, I'm most likely not going to participate. I've just got too much to take care of before I leave and I'm stressed enough as it is. I'll still work on my existing stories when I find time, but I'm not going to race to spew out 50,000 words in the half a month that's left.
